Hello my friends ♡

You've been getting updates from Carson (with a little Erin flare thrown in) most of the time, but I wanted to write up a little note from me to loop you in on my personal side of life in Myrtle so far.

Anytime someone asks me how everything is going, I feel like my answer is always, “It’s so good, but it’s a LOT.” 😂

There’s a lot of newness happening all at once. I’m trying to navigate my own transition into a new city and a new season of life, while also helping three little ones navigate their own newness, all while trying to support Carson as we step into everything God has called us to here in Myrtle Beach. It’s a lot of holding space for everyone else while also trying to find my own footing.

But there has been SO much goodness in the middle of it. Transparently, on a spiritual level, I’ve been asking God a LOT of questions. Asking Him to reveal himself more than I ever have. Trying to really lean into Jesus’ time here on earth, the character of God, and the way of the Holy Spirit. He has welcomed my doubt, my tears, my questions, and met me with peace, affirmation of His character, and a whole lot of grace.

Practically, the Rock Church has been more helpful in this transition than I can even put into words. I’m SO grateful for the people we’ve met through them, the resources they’ve provided, and just the kindness everyone has shown us. This is the beauty of the local church. Without them, this transition truly would be a lot harder. I don’t take that lightly, and I genuinely see it as such a kind gift and provision from the Lord.

I also got the privilege to attend a Carolina Movement with Carson in September and I left feeling incredibly encouraged. I got to sit down with other pastors’ wives and church planters’ wives, meet new people, laugh, share stories, and just talk with people who understand some of what this season looks like. I even got to connect with a few women who are planting churches right here in Myrtle Beach! And there was just something so sweet about that reminder that I’m not alone in this.

Personally, I’m still trying to make friends anywhere I go. I’m so thankful for the connections we already have here, especially the friendships that have been around for 10+ years. There’s something really special about getting to pick up those friendships in a new season and having people who already know you, love you, and can jump right back into the deep end with you.

At the same time, I’m still learning my way around, finding my people, figuring out our rhythms as a family (someone tell me why my laundry rhythm got so messed up moving??), and trying to gain my footing in a season that still feels really new.

I think sometimes when you’re walking in something you feel called to, it’s easy to focus on the big picture and the peace you feel, yet forget that the everyday, ordinary parts of getting there still take a LOT out of you. You can be really grateful and really excited about what God is doing and still feel stretched by the process. A “two things can be true” type of thing.

So that’s a little bit of where I’m at right now. Really grateful. Really encouraged. Still adjusting. Still making friends. Still figuring it out for myself and helping our babies navigate it too.

And trusting that the Lord is meeting us in all of it. ❤️

Talk soon,

Xoxo Erin

    nor did their arm bring them victory;
it was your right hand, your arm,
    and the light of your face, for you loved them.
